Let’s get into what you can say that will work almost EVERY time.
In a calm friendly tone:
“Hi Dave. It’s Melissa. I wanted to let you know I appreciate what you did for me. Call me because I want to thank you in person.”
Do you see how that uses both of our techniques?
How could Dave resist? he will be to curious as to what he did for Melissa that he will have to call back but not only that “What does she appreciate?” he will be thinking. And he feels good because it is a positive message.
Now…
You still have to back this up; you have to know what he/she did that you appreciate. It can be anything, but it has to be significant. But more importantly…
WARNING!
You Have to Have An Underlying Strategy Like What Is Laid Out For You In The Magic Of Making Up. If you apply this technique with no underlying strategy and they call you back you can do more DAMAGE than good if you do not handle it correctly.

You can do everything you think is right but with your state you are thinking too emotionally and you need a strategy. What you do before, during and after you get them to return your call is MORE important than getting them to return your call.
